Amelia

Daisypath Happy Birthday tickers

This blog captures my thoughts and observations of Amelia since there are so many wonderful things I want to just bottle and enjoy. Time doesn't stop and while I will have memories, it will be nice for both her and me to have these in-the-moment snapshots of her life.

Royal Wedding

We were up this morning watching the Royal wedding and Amelia was very interested. She came out of her room asking, "Is this another weddintg?" (We had just attended Christy's.) I said yes and she asked, "But we weren't invited?" I told her no, but that everyone could watch it on TV. When they came down the aisle as husband and wife she asked what Catherine's new last name would be. I told her Windsor, leaving out the part that she would never use it. She then asked what William's last name was (Windsor) and then asked, "Why?" Hmmm. "Because that is his family's name." Tough questions!

Earlier I asked her if she knew there was such a thing as real princesses and she said she did. I also pointed out the choir boys and making the comparison to her children's choir. She noticed how they weren't wiggling and began looking for boys like the ones in her choir.

The best thing was the timing. Since Kate didn't begin her trip to the church until 5:51 am EDT, I didn't have to get up until David did! And we were able to watch everything but the balcony kiss before leaving for school, so Amelia wasn't late.

Busy day!

The tooth almost came out tonight. Amelia is still so very excited about it coming out that she let me try numerous times to dislodge it. Her permanent tooth has broken through behind it and is more than clearly visible. If I was wiggling or pulling and it hurt, Amelia would say, "Ah-choo!" I thought that was cute. I told her she was brave but I thought we should try again tomorrow. She wanted to sleep with her Hello Kitty tooth pillow anyway. All it needs is to sew up the bottom half and stuff that half as well. Her head is already stuffed and sewn. We went ahead and finished the dress today just in case we needed that pocket!

She also had her first sleepover last night. Her little friend Livia is moving to Portland next month. They've been friends since Amelia was 9 months old. So sad.

And today was Amelia's first time attending a wedding. She worked in her activity book for the most part but I pointed out to her when they were exchanging vows saying that "Paul is promising to always love Christy" and then again when "Christy is promising to always love Paul". And then the ring exchange and of course the kiss!

An impending visit from the tooth fairy, a first sleepover and a first wedding. Such a busy girl!

Did you know ... Cottontail drives a Kia Soul?

We walked into the lobby at school today and there was a woman with pink ears, pink color sprayed into her hair and some bunny face make-up. I pointed her out to Amelia and the woman came over and started telling Amelia that her name was Cottontail, then turned around and showed Amelia her tail! Then she turned back around and pointed out her “sisters” (large stuffed bunny head earings) on her ears and said one was Flopsy and the other was Mopsy. Then she pointed to her bunny rabbit pin on her vest and said that was in honor of her brother Peter who, at the moment, was incarcerated for grand theft carrot. "That means he is locked up in prison!" You see, he got caught in Mr. McGregor’s garden.

It was SO cute! I loved how the woman stayed in character the entire time. Amelia was totally smitten. I wish I had a camera to capture the smile on Amelia’s face as soon as the woman started talking to her! It was one of those ear to ear grins where her eyes almost become slits. So cute.

Then on the way out of town I came up behind an orange Kia Soul turning right from the school's road and noticed bunny ears through the back window of the driver side!

Any day now!

A blogger/FB friend posted a pic of her little girl a couple of months ago saying she had "shark teeth". Amelia does now, too! You can clearly see the second tooth coming up behind her very loose tooth.

We are working on a cute Hello Kitty sewing project that we received as a late Christmas gift from Aunt Jeannine. Amelia is doing all the sewing, I'm just guiding her and tying knots. I think it will be a perfect tooth fairy pillow!
