Amelia

Daisypath Happy Birthday tickers

This blog captures my thoughts and observations of Amelia since there are so many wonderful things I want to just bottle and enjoy. Time doesn't stop and while I will have memories, it will be nice for both her and me to have these in-the-moment snapshots of her life.

Rhyming

Amelia has a new-found fascination with rhymes. She is noticing that there are rhymes in the songs she hears on her CDs. Everytime she notices one, she points it out with such delight. It honestly brings her joy. Like, "Wow! That was there all this time and I just now noticed it!" So cute!

She's such a gentleman!

Since turning 5, Amelia is very proud of being able to do things she couldn't do when she was 4. In some ways, I think she looks at turning 5 as some kind of magic thing and I've had to remind her a few times that some things still need practice and it's okay if she can't do something by herself right away.

She is also being more helpful and tries to open heavy doors like the one near her classroom. The other day she was holding a door open with her entire body and she said, "Look, Mommy! I'm being a gentleman!" I just smiled proudly at her and said, "Yes, you are!"

Amelia says ...

This morning Amelia was looking at her calendar and she said, "Tomorrow is Columbus Day Observed. Tuesday is Columbus Day. Ms. Mary was wrong! She said Monday was Columbus Day. That Ms. Mary, she's always saying things to make sure we are paying attention."

While I was taking my shower she was playing in the sunroom. Daddy overheard her tell her little kitty that climbing on the footstool was "unexpectable". Then she brought Daddy the stuffed fox and told him to pretend it was a present he got her for New York Day. He said, "New York Day?" And she said, "Yes, New York Day. It's the first day in January."

Happy October!

Tia Polly bought Amelia an adorable Halloween shirt and I figure now that it's October she can wear it. Since it's purple and mostly just features a cat, she might get away with wearing it past Halloween ... we'll see. The cat is velvet which is pretty neat, too.
