Amelia

Daisypath Happy Birthday tickers

This blog captures my thoughts and observations of Amelia since there are so many wonderful things I want to just bottle and enjoy. Time doesn't stop and while I will have memories, it will be nice for both her and me to have these in-the-moment snapshots of her life.

Half Birthday, as in 9-1/2 years old!

This morning Amelia bounced into the hallway and announced it was her half birthday and she wanted to have party with a cake, at least one friend and presents. Well then, she is certainly a girl who knows what she wants. How could I say no?

So I took a couple of small things I had set aside for her and we had Rhiannon over for a playdate turned half birthday party. After decorating the cake with Elsa and Anna, Amelia placed all the candles in the shape of a 9. She took the tenth candle and pushed it further into the cake so that she had 9-1/2 candles.

Such a happy girl.

St. Patrick's Day 2015

I thought it would be fun to use food coloring to dye the water in our toilet the morning of St. Patrick's Day. This had captured Amelia's imagination when her kindergarten teacher did it and she still has so much childlike joy and wonder.

This morning after Daddy left, I took some blue and yellow food coloring left over from a Kiwi crate project and made the water green. When Amelia woke up I went to the bathroom and acted surprised and called Amelia to come and see what I found. She came in and I said, "Look, I think a leprechaun used our bathroom!" She said, "No, Mommy, leprechauns aren't real. I think it's just some cleaner."

And that was that.

Bumper Stickers

We had an unusually warm day today and Amelia wanted to go to the park. I was on a long call from my boss and so she wrote me a note, "Even though it's past 4 pm, can we go to the park?" So cute.

We went for a brief visit after dinner and there were a couple of other cars there, too. One had a good number of bumper stickers all over the back. Amelia observed loudly, "Hey Mommy, it looks like that Chevrolet is being held together by those bumper stickers!" Oh, the joys of having a child!!
