Amelia

Daisypath Happy Birthday tickers

This blog captures my thoughts and observations of Amelia since there are so many wonderful things I want to just bottle and enjoy. Time doesn't stop and while I will have memories, it will be nice for both her and me to have these in-the-moment snapshots of her life.

My Birthday, Her Gift

Daddy bought one of those backpacks masquerading as a leash. We talked about needing one for our upcoming trip to Colorado, but I forgot. When I opened my gift from Amelia, she was delighted to put it on and have Daddy walk her around the house! (She also appropriated my blue balloon.) It's actually makes your birthday more fun when your daughter has such a great time!

Sprinkler Time

I pulled out the sprinkler yesterday and let Amelia play in the water. I actually tried a cute duck sprinkler, but it didn't work like it was supposed to - even after I read the directions. So I pulled out the arcing one and she had a blast, just like I did as a kid. It got a little chilly for her being wet outside though, and she has the sniffles today.

Kiss My Tennis

Amelia came up to me and said, "Mommy, kiss my tennis!" and then she offered me the top of her head. I was perplexed. Fortunately, Daddy stepped in to translate. She, who of late is fond of being an ant, wanted me to kiss her antennas.

Another funny thing she said the other day was when she wanted me to sing the broccoli song and I inserted asparagus instead. Sometimes it's fun to try to frustrate her, but instead of taking the bait she stopped, looked thoughtful and asked, "Mommy, is asparagus Spanish for broccoli?"

Father's Day

We made a cheesecake for Daddy. After helping Amelia write DAD on the cake, I set out some M&Ms for decorating it. I put one on the cake and expected her to finish. I turned around to clean up a little and let her be creative. Apparently, she had her own idea. The M&Ms needed some tasting for quality control and none of them were good enough to add to the cheesecake.

Brass Band Festival

We went to the Brass Band Festival again this year. We had fabulous weather. Amelia was a little more antsy but we all had a good time. When we were by the main stage we were close to the Italian ice stand, so I got her some. Of course, she picked her favorite color - blue! Fortunately, it all washed out of her clothes very easily. Her blue lips and tongue were hilarious! Here she is in this picture with her blue lips, her UK face painting (her idea .. and since we were in KY, it seemed totally appropriate for my little Wildcat fan!) and she thought the disposable camera was just so neat, especially since it came in its own box!

For the fourth year in a row, we got a picture of her with a member of the Circle City Sidewalk Stompers - always a highlight! (Although I left my camera at the hotel, so it's on the yet-to-be developed disposable camera.)

Grandma also treated us to a horse drawn cart ride. She wanted to do it last year but it didn't quite work out with Amelia's nap and temperament. Amelia was fascinated with the horse after the ride when it was drinking water out of a huge bucket.

Day Out with Thomas

Amelia had a fabulous Day out with Thomas. We didn't feel compelled to get her any more Thomas merchandise, which we've done in the past two years, but we did get her a blue lollipop - we always have to stop by the candy store and get something!
She was too busy talking to me to smile in front of Thomas, but she sure loved riding the train!

She has a Rosie tattoo on her arm which she picked out. I thought she was going to go for Percy so she surprised me with Rosie. It was barely dry before she started trying to scratch it off - I don't think she liked how it felt on her arm. She also enjoyed the coloring station they set up, as well as the stamping station.

Such a serious reader

She looks so grown up here - crossing her legs and reading so intently as she sits next to Daddy.
