Amelia

Daisypath Happy Birthday tickers

This blog captures my thoughts and observations of Amelia since there are so many wonderful things I want to just bottle and enjoy. Time doesn't stop and while I will have memories, it will be nice for both her and me to have these in-the-moment snapshots of her life.

Out of the blue

This morning in the kitchen Amelia says to me, "I am fine with our family." I wondered what she meant and she then repeated herself.

I say, "Good. I'm glad."

She then says, "I don't need any brothers or sisters." I am not sure where that came from!

I think, "Good!" because we weren't planning for any and it made me happy to know she likes the plan we had for our family, even if she didn't know that was the plan.

So I nonchalantly said, "Oh, okay honey."

Mommies to little girls

Recently Amelia asked me if she can be a mommy to a little girl when she grows up. I told her sure. I am flattered in a way because I am thinking she wants to be like me, and how sweet is that?

It's become a theme and she has mentioned it several more times, about once a day every other day or so. She still doesn't play with baby dolls and her mothering of stuffed animals hasn't increased. She just talks about how she wants to be a mommy to a little girl when she grows up. It's cute.

Creepy Sun

Coming home from Tweetsie yesterday I gave Amelia a Capri Sun left-over from a lunchable about a month ago. I normally stick with juice boxes, and only as an emergency when we run out of juice brought from home or mixed with water from a convenience store so she doesn't see too much of Capri Sun.

Amelia is really coming along with reading but doesn't quite sound things out completely. She studies words and then takes a good guess at what she thinks it says. So from the back seat we hear, "Is this creepy sun?"
